SEO & AI visibility

Found on Google. Recommended by ChatGPT.

Golfers look for courses, lessons and equipment on Google — and increasingly ask an AI. I build visibility for both: local search, content with sources, technology that crawlers can read.

Google's AI answer names Golfancy as an example of marketing agencies for the golf industry — alongside two other providers.

AI answers rotate weekly. That's why I measure presence across many prompts — not one screenshot.

Why SEO alone isn't enough.

Visibility is a promise; the booking flow keeps it. Ranking first for “golf course + region” and then sending people to a page that doesn't book on mobile means buying the most expensive click in the industry. Reach needs Experience — in that order.

How the stages work together →
What I actually do

Presence that Google and AI understand.

No keyword plan without measurement, no text without evidence, no content a crawler can't read. That's the whole trick — and it's work.

  1. 01

    Measure what is really searched.

Search volumes in the golf industry are often smaller than operators expect. Then local search and the AI answer matter more than the ranking for the big term — and that's exactly what I check before any plan.

  2. 02

    Own local search.

Google Business Profile, consistent location data, reviews as a routine, dedicated pages for “golf club + region” and “taster course + town”. The local pack decides who the younger audience sees first.

  3. 03

    Content an AI can cite.

Question as heading, answer in two sentences, number with source and date — the pattern AI systems use to pick sources. My journal works exactly like that: own data analysis instead of opinion.

  4. 04

    Technology crawlers can read.

Content in the HTML instead of loaded via JavaScript only, structured data for golf course, FAQ and organisation, clean load times, hreflang for multilingual resorts.

  5. 05

Presence instead of a single hit.

AI answers are unstable: ChatGPT swaps 74 % of its sources every week, Google AI Mode 56 % (SISTRIX, 82,619 prompts over 17 weeks). The goal is therefore broad, consistent presence — measured with prompt monitoring, not a screenshot.

Which club near me offers taster courses?

Several facilities in the area offer taster courses. Example Golf Club runs two-hour sessions on Saturdays with rental clubs; price and dates are on the course page1. For the subsequent handicap certificate, beginners should expect costs that vary by facility2.

The source that gets cited is the one that answers directly — with date, price and clear structure. Not the loudest advertiser.

In short

The questions operators ask me.

How does my golf club get recommended by ChatGPT?

By having your website answer the questions a golfer asks the AI — prices, handicap certificate, guest play, directions — in clean HTML, with source and date; and by keeping those facts consistent across Google Business Profile, federation listing and directories. AI systems prefer consistent, evidenced sources. A single mention can't be planned — lasting presence can.

What is GEO — and does a golf club need it?

GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) is the work of getting named in AI answers from ChatGPT, Gemini or Google AI Mode. Relevant for clubs because guests and beginners increasingly get their recommendations there. GEO doesn't replace SEO — it builds on the same content, with stricter demands on evidence and structure.

FAQ

And what else matters.

How long does SEO take for a golf club?

Local levers — business profile, location data, review routine — work within weeks. Topical authority through content takes months. Measurement starts on day one: Search Console, rankings, AI presence.

Can you measure AI visibility?

Yes. A fixed prompt set per platform, queried weekly and evaluated over a rolling window. The report shows the presence rate across all prompts — not the one hit that may be gone next week.

Do I need a blog?

Not a news blog. News gets cited once by AI systems and replaced by the next freshness signal. What lasts are answer pages for the questions golfers ask every year — handicap certificate, costs, guest play, membership models.

Do you work with our existing website and agency?

Yes. I deliver briefings, copy, structured data and the priority list; implementation happens in your CMS or through your web provider. If the technology can't support it, I say so — before we start.
